MKG127 is very pleased to present Double Take,
an exhibition of new work by Toronto based artist Kristiina Lahde

In Double Take, Kristiina Lahde presents a series of collages made from newspapers that use a kaleidoscopic view as the starting point. The newspapers are transformed to create a range of effects including precise geometry, mirrored distortions, particles floating and falling and the spiralling motion of shattered glass.

We are continually bombarded by information media; news stories that repeat endlessly, headlines that simplify and fragment and stories that are spun in multiple directions. In Lahde’s collages the newspaper is further fragmented and distorted.

Kristiina Lahde received her BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax N.S. in 1999. Kristiina works in collage, sculpture and installation. Her work has recently been exhibited at Convenience Gallery in Toronto, the Blackwood Gallery at the University of Toronto, Mississauga and at Texas State University Gallery in Austin Texas. She previously participated in the exhibition, Pattern Theory at MKG127 in 2007.

MKG127 is located in Toronto at 127 Ossington Avenue between Queen and Dundas Streets at the NE corner of Ossington Avenue and Argyle Street.

Hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 12 to 6 PM or by appointment.
