MKG127 is very pleased to present Noblesse Oblige,
an exhibition of new work by Chicago based artist David R. Harper

March 20 - April 17, 2010

In Noblesse Oblige, object collecting, crypto-zoology, and historical perceptions of the curio are investigated. Harper examines the hierarchy of objects in the home as well as museological collections using the ideas of the ornately grotesque and the grotesquely ornamental. The exhibition also addresses illusions of importance in the way in which images and objects are framed.

Originally from Toronto, David R. Harper received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2005. In 2009, he was artist in residence at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. He is currently working towards his MFA at the Chicago Art Institute. A solo exhibition of his work, Atlas, just opened at Acadia University Gallery in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and another solo exhibition of his work will begin in April at the Textile Museum in Toronto.
